Health and Beauty

Home

For this week health tips, I would like to share some knowledge and useful tips for UV rays and protection for health!!!

If you are interested in health and beauty, please check it out in the following tips!!!!

Have you noticed about UV rays and it’s effects?

The sunlight that reaches the earth has two kinds of ultraviolet rays which are ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B (UVA and UVB) rays. As people need sunlight to stay healthy, UVA and UVB radiations are needed to some extent in order to synthesize vitamin E. However, too much exposing to UV rays can make the skin darken, toughen and cause skin cancer seriously. Among these two rays, UVB radiation is responsible for the most obvious damage to the surface of the skin, including many forms of skin cancer. In addition, UVA radiation causes wrinkles, sunburn, premature aging of the skin and so on.

Skin Types

Skin type affects the degree to which some people burn and the time it takes them to burn. Generally, skin types can be classified from 1 to 6. Firstly, you need to know your skin type .Individuals with lower number skin types (1 or 2) have fair skin and tend to burn rapidly and more severely. People with higher number skin types (5 or 6), who have darker skin, do not burn easily.

So, how can we protect from UV rays and causing such kind of serious effects?

Here are some useful tips that everyone can protect from UV radiations …..

1.      Using sunscreen

Sunscreens is a product that you put on your skin to protect it from the sun’s UV rays. All sunscreen contain a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) label. The SPF reveals the relative amount of sunburn protection that a sunscreen can provide an average user (tested on skin types 1, 2 and 3) when correctly used.

Recommendation for choosing sunscreen

Sunscreens with SPF of at least 15 are recommended. You should be aware that an SPF of 30 is not twice as protective as an SPF of 15; rather, when properly used, an SPF of 15 protects the skin from 93 percent of UVB radiation and an SPF 30 sunscreen provides 97 percent protection.

2.      Applying sunscreen properly

When putting sunscreen on, pay close attention to your face, ears, neck, arms and any other areas not covered by clothing. If you are going to wear makeup, put the sunscreen on first. Sunscreens need to be reapplied at least every 2 hours to maintain protection. When you sweat or swim and then wipe off with a towel, sunscreen can wash off. That’s why you need to apply again.

3.     Wearing  sunglasses that block UV rays

UV-blocking sunglasses are important for protecting delicate skin around the eyes and the eyes themselves.

Recommendation for choosing sunglasses

The ideal sunglasses should blocking 99% to 100% of UVA and UVB rays. Before you buy, make sure to check the label. Labels that say”UV absorption up to 400nm” mean those sunglasses block at least 99% of UV rays. Those labeled “cosmetic “block about 70% of UV rays.

4.   Wearing a hat

A hat with at least a 2- to 3-inch brim all around is ideal because it protects areas that are often exposed to intense sun, such as the ears, eyes, forehead, nose, and scalp.

The denser the fabric, the higher the UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor). Choose close-weave fabrics or tightly woven straw. Many hats have been tested for sun protection qualities, and include a UPF number on the label. UPF labels indicate how much of the sun's UVR is absorbed by the product's fabric.
